Goals and Objectives

The House hopes to achieve ten primary goals in the near and long-term:

  1. In the midst of violence, drugs, abuse, and other ills, provide a safe and strong community for youth in Southeast Washington, D.C.

  2. Mobilize volunteers that together represent a "village" for youth in Southeast D.C. and share the love of Jesus as mentors, tutors, role models, and father figures.

  3. Set positive examples and help youth to effectively deal the many challenges they face.

  4. Create an educational support system that connects youth with the resources needed to improve skills and affords them better employment and educational opportunities for the future.

  5. Provide spiritual guidance, giving youth direction for an alternative lifestyle of hope and freedom.

  6. Build spiritual families among peers of youth as an alternative to the growing epidemic of gangs and violence.

  7. Expose youth to a world outside of their four-block neighborhood so they can envision bright futures and establish goals that empower them to compete in this world.

  8. Gain the support of caregivers, complement their life skills, and be available for assistance in emergency situations.

  9. Participate in the community by cleaning up the neighborhood so residents can be proud of the area in which they live.

  10. Provide a model ministry that can be developed in other parts of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and throughout the United States.
